In-house functionality across the Net for bureaux and their corporate clients

For the first time clients of computer bureaux and imaging houses using one of the world's most advanced hands-on file viewers for document management systems (DMS) - Onstream System's Trapeze™ Desktop - have been given the ability to work 'in-house' on their files across the Internet.

Bureaux and image libraries have been given the capability of on-line charging on a per retrieval basis rather than charging on a subscription or other basis. The breakthrough client/server software suite, Trapeze Online™, recently introduced by Onstream Systems Ltd, should prove a boon to bureaux, imaging repositories, local government bodies and national agencies that are required to give clients off-site access to the use of documents, images and other data. It allows bureau users and clients to use Trapeze™ Desktop files in their off-site computers in almost exactly the same way as if they had the original paper files on their desks.

Trapeze Online™ (consisting of Trapeze™ Desktop and Trapeze™ Webstreamer), according to Onstream System's principal, David Kelly, provides both 'in-house functionality' across the Internet and 'new opportunities for scan-on-demand systems and bureaux providing image archives.' "Now bureau and image archive clients would be able to vastly reduce the time they spent searching and retrieving the document of their choice from existing document image repositories. It also will enable 'on retrieval' charging for the use of documents," Mr. Kelly said. He noted that this would be extremely beneficial for document scanning, bureau document storage and in-house corporate image document providers.

"Providers would also be able to achieve this within thier existing structure, while continuing to use existing databases (relational, text retrieval etc), existing electronic image repositories, server operating systems and security configurations", said Mr. Kelly. He added, "that Trapeze Online™ had been 'specifically designed to facilitate the efficient use of scanned documents over the Internet".

The Trapeze Online™ client/server product suite allows provider's clients to:

• Use a highly intuitive viewer (easily intergrated with Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers) to quickly retrieve pages and documents from image stores.
• Create and maintain Trapeze™ Desktop bookmarks and annotation tags specific to the user within these documents.
• Enable many companies/individuals access to the same Trapeze™ Webstreamer) run by a bureau, with secure access to their own documents
• Access image stores at Internet speed links, with a browser plug-in or a fully functional Trapeze™ Webstreamer) client.
• Enable the depositing of new images into a server image store by authorised users.
• Enable full accounting (billing) for usage on a "per page" and a "per user" basis.
