A Real Step towards a paperless office using Trapeze technology

Onstream Systems and Tower Software successfully implement Trapeze Capture for TRIM with the Melbourne Transport Ticketing Authority.

Trapeze CaptureTRIM™, a tightly integrated batch scanning system developed by Onstream Systems for use in TRIM Context, has been successfully implemented by the Transport Ticketing Authority in Melbourne.

It is being used by the Authority to handle inwards correspondence and is about to be implemented in the Melbourne office of the Ombudsman of Victoria for the same purpose, bringing the long promised “paperless office” a major step nearer to reality.

The implementation of the newly developed software at the two sites has come as a result of the strong on-going business partnership between Wellington-based Onstream Systems and Tower Software, of Canberra, ACT..

The development of the new software came about as the result of a suggestion by Tower Software. “There was a real need in the market for a highly functional capture product with all the most valued Trapeze features that could be easily delivered and deployed and was well integrated with TRIM,” said Straughan Schofield, Tower Software’s general manager, product development and support.

“This is accessible, user-friendly technology which is priced economically, and gives additional value to the solutions we provide our customers,” he said. “Onstream Systems is a solid, pragmatic business partner which works in the real world delivering and supporting real products. The new software, based around Trapeze’s unique Visual Scanning Management VSM™ and One Touch Scanning™ allows users to quickly and simply scan and QA batches of documents. The Trapeze CaptureTRIM™ indexing wizard then interactively maps fields to TRIM fields, before automatically creating a record in TRIM.

The fields are validated directly by TRIM and the user can guarantee that the information is correct at the time of scanning.

The Out-of-the-box install/integration Trapeze Capture for TRIM is designed for departmental use and in production environments where barcodes and text from documents are needed to populate the TRIM records. Multi-function devices, single and double-sided scanners, and multiple attached scanners are all supported.

Alpha West Services Pty. Ltd were the company responsible for implementing the solution. Says Sudarshan Ramakrishnan from Alpha West “The software was installed on schedule at the Ticketing Authority and is working very well.”

“It is currently being used to generate the daily capture of all incoming correspondence into the busy office,” he said. “The support from Onstream Systems in the implementation has been extremely good.”
